I’m a photographer in Columbia, Missouri and have scouted so many wonderful photography locations in and around the city. The list is always growing so it’s always best to check back for updates! Let’s get started!

Fields, Parks, Trails & Gardens

Rock Bridge Memorial State Park

Rock Bridge State Park is a wonderful and versatile photography location. It is incredibly large and there are plenty of places to take wonderful photos. Here are some I’ve snagged at Rock Bridge State Park.

Capen Park

Capen Park is the perfect location for dreamy golden hour photography. The sun sets right at one of the bridge’s ends, providing a warm glow. There is a trail and a little creek to explore as well!

Norma Sutherland Smith Park

Norma Sutherland Park is a park that I’ve only recently heard of. Its small but versatile landscape holds a pond, bridge, pine trees, and small golden fields—all spread along one short and easily accessible trail.

Shelter Gardens

Shelter Gardens is one of my absolute favorite locations in Columbia, MO. It is such a relaxed environment and holds several mini gardens within one large park. 10/10 would recommend—for photography, or just for a nice stroll.

McAlester Arboretum | Peace Park

Peace Park, located in Downtown Columbia, MO, is a beautiful spot that perfect for any photography session. It is a short walk away from several of my favorite downtown photography locations. This brings me to our next major category.

Three Creeks

There are various areas available to the public and plenty of parking! Creeks and wide open fields make this a favorite of mine. The engagement photos below were taken on a cloudy day.

Hinkson Creek Trail

I recently discovered this spot and will be sure to add more of photos we shot once I have ‘em edited! Here’s a peek!

Downtown Columbia, Missouri

Downtown photography sessions never disappoint, no matter the city. There are so many alleyways, murals, and hidden nooks and crannies that make surprisingly good photography backdrops.

Parking Garages

My absolute favorite category. Parking garages are typically neutral colors. This makes subjects really pop, resulting in a clean photography style. The better the skyline, the better the photos.

University of Missouri Campus

Yet another versatile location that is easy to access from many others downtown. Landmarks like The Columns, Jesse Hall, and Memorial Union are many stops to make during you photography session on the University of Missouri Campus. The grounds are always well maintained and provide beautiful foliage.

Broadway Diner

Broadway Diner is a great photography location for those who love a vintage style. There are many other restaurants that make great photography locations as well—just be sure to stay outside or ask if you would like to take a few shots inside. Always be mindful of restaurant staff and avoid if traffic is heavy.
