April weddings are always a little risky. With rain in the forecast, we were sure to expect at least a drizzle on Danae and Sean’s big day. Fortunately, we lucked out and they were able to have an absolutely beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony at the Piper Palm House in Tower Grove Park.

I always scout locations before holding clients’ photography sessions when I can. Scouting areas in advance is a great way to track the sun and find frames that add interest to photos. When a client asked about photography locations in Jeff City, I saw it as the perfect opportunity to check out a city that’s so close to my home base Columbia, Missouri.

Last Monday, I had the pleasure of volunteering with Central Missouri Humane Society. With their regular photographer away for a few months, our aim is to grab photos of adoptable pets so we can showcase their individualities and increase the chances of finding them homes.

Rocheport, Missouri is a very small town whose charm punches well above its weight. Locals of central Missouri know it to be a quick and easy getaway from every day life. It’s a place where one can slow down, get away from the hustle and bustle of more populated areas (i.e. Columbia or Jefferson City), and retreat into nature without straying too far off the beaten path. For that same reason, it is an ideal location for engagement photography sessions for anyone who lives in or around Columbia, Missouri. And, surprisingly, there are a lot of people in the area who still do not know about it.
